What is the meaning of Buying Power?

Buying Power is the maximum amount of money available to buy securities in a brokerage account without adding additional equity. For a non-margin account, buying power is the value of cash held in the account. For a margin account, buying power is the value of cash plus marginable securities, plus the value of the Special Miscellaneous Account.
