Contrarian investing is a method of investing: one ignores market trends and buys neglected and depressed stocks of well-managed companies. Contrarians select the opposite of what most people are investing in at a given time by looking for healthy companies in unpopular industries or overlooked firms. A contrarian adviser tends to buy stocks with low P/Es.
