What is the meaning of Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD)?

Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) is a governmental entity responsible for the implementation and administration of housing and urban development programs. HUD was established by the Housing and Urban Development Act of 1965 to supersede the Housing and Home Finance Agency.
