microcredit refers to loans in small amounts to small-scale entrepreneurs. The Grameen Bank in Bangladesh has been a model of success in such activities. "Healthy economies depend on the vitality of small communities, just as healthy lungs depend on the vigor of tiny air sacs which form them. Dollars will thus be strengthened when backed by energetic local currency communities, rather than by the depletion of natural resources and social decay.".
