Municipal Bond ("Muni") is a debt obligation issued by a county, city, district or authority, typically for day-to-day governmental needs or for special projects like building roads, schools and hospitals. Interest for most municipal bonds is exempt from federal income taxes. Income from municipal bond funds may be subject to state, local, and the federal alternative minimum tax.
